Sharon Shewmake is running for State Representative for the 42nd District - in Whatcom County. Sharon is running because our economy isn’t just dollars and cents, it’s how we care for one another and grow our communities. We need leaders who fight for our values. Protecting our children, the environment, and workers isn’t charity, it’s an investment in our future.
No child deserves to live in poverty. No family deserves to go hungry. No person deserves to go without a well-paying job. Sharon asks for your vote because for too long our voices have gone unheard, we need a representative who will protect our environment and protect our families, it’s time for a change in Whatcom County.
This is Sharon's first time running for elected office. She is a professor of economics at Western Washington University, a children’s book author, a spouse, and a mom - to Henry and Graham. Sharon went to the University of California, Davis and Duke University.
Sharon is proud to be a member of the Lettered Streets Neighborhood Association, a faculty advisor for Western Washington University’s Women in Economics and Finance Club, a member of Whatcom County Climate Change Impacts Committee, the Riveter’s Collective, Walk Bike Bus Bellingham, and the Washington State Adult Soccer Association.
